Charleen Hurtubise is a novelist, essayist, and artist. She has an M.Sc. from Trinity College Dublin and an MFA in creative writing from University College Dublin. The sixth sister in a family of nine, she was born in Florida to a French Canadian father and an Irish mother, she spent much of her childhood in Michigan, her early adult years in Boston, and has now lived half of her life in Dublin, raising her three Irish children. The pull of Donegal and its mesmerising landscapes influence both her writing and her visual arts practice.
